Huawei Planning To Move its Research Center to Canada: Report

Written by on December 3, 2019

Huawei Technologies is planning to move its research center to Canada from United States, said by Ren Zhengfei, who is the founder of Chinese telecoms equipment maker.

The remarks of Ren came as Reuters reported on Friday that the United States is weighing expanding its power to halt more foreign shipments of products to Huawei with U.S. technology. Huawei was blacklisted by the U.S. Commerce Department in May citing national security concerns.

Huawei’s center for research and development will be moved out of U.S and that will be relocated to Canada, Ren told the Globe and Mail, adding that the company will also manufacture some mobile network equipment outside China.

The founder of Huawei wants to build new factory capacity in Europe, to make fifth-generation (5G) networking equipment there, to ease fears originated from United States allegations, that its product could be used for spying by China, as reported by Globe and Mail.
